Description
Rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and Ofsted, North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year Urgent and Emergency Care to those in need of immediate medical treatment, and where necessary, transport to the most appropriate receiving hospital/centre. As the geographically largest Ambulance Service in the UK, our 8000 staff and volunteers in over 300 different roles serve a population of more than 7.5 million people across Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, and part of Derbyshire. Each year we receive approximately 1.4 million 999 calls, respond to just under 1 million emergency incidents, and make more than 1.5 million patient transport journeys for those who require non-emergency transport to and from healthcare appointments. We also deliver the NHS 111 service across the region for people who need medical help or advice, handling around 1.7 million calls every year.
We are seeking a values-driven and inspiring Non-Executive Director to join our engaged and dynamic Board, led by our Chair, Julia Mulligan. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of urgent, emergency, and planned care across the North West. Guided by our core values—working together, being at our best, and making a difference—we are committed to delivering compassionate care and improving outcomes and experiences for our people, patients, and communities.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will uphold the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance, provide independent challenge and support, and bring a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
We are seeking a senior leader with strategic experience of transforming services through digital innovation. You will have a track record of using digital technologies to modernise operations, improve efficiency and effectiveness, enhance user experience, and manage organisational risk. Experience gained in either the public or private sector will be equally valued.
We are looking for an accomplished strategic leader with Board-level or equivalent experience gained in complex, evolving, and multi-stakeholder environments. You will hold the interests of patients and the wellbeing of our staff and communities at the heart of your leadership, helping to shape the future direction and success of our organisation.
Applicants should live in or have strong connections with the area served by the Trust.
